Having a BABY!

Today we walked in the Rain to 333 longwood Ave for an ultrasound. Noodle (that's what we call the baby) is currently 19 weeks and 1 day old. The wild turkeys were grazing on the corner and frustrating the morning commuters with their stubborn refusal to get out of the road. The trees here are still bright with fall color, yellows, reds and brown-orange, and the leaves popped out and glowed in contrast to the black wet wood of the the tree trunks and power poles. It was a beautiful and exciting walk for several reasons first Because we hadn't seen noodle for a while and second because we were very hopeful that we would find out if our baby was boy or girl so we could stop calling little Noodle IT. Once we began looking at noodles parts, 4 limbs (2 arms 2 legs) a (perfect) brain, 4 heart chambers, two cute little kidneys, 10 fingers and 10 toes we almost forgot to ask . When a 2cd person came in to do the required double check we asked if she could tell us and after a few minutes she announced quite confidently its a BOY.
Now we can call noodle HE. He moves around allot I can feel it from time to time witch is fun. I look forward to the day that Kevin can feel it too.

D.C. (a blog interrupted)

(I went to D.C. almost a Year ago this month and started to blog about it when I returned home. I made a picture mosaic, and intended to add a lot more photos and some descriptions. But in the midst of studying for my Nclex passing it and then looking for, getting and training for my first job as an RN the blog was never finished. found it today in the "drafts" and I decided just now that I will publish it.)

I Passed the Nclex!!

I took my nursing Licensing exam on Monday, after ward I felt terrible, I was sure I didn't know the answers to over half the questions. Today I found out I passed and in a few weeks I should have my licenses in the mail. I am very excited and relieved. This is my I did it picture for everyone who missed the dance (no one saw it but Kevin heard it on the phone he also heard me hyperventilating and getting dizzy).

Thanks by the way for all the prayers, well wishes, and support you all have offered during this whole process. And happy birthday and anniversary and special holidays to all of you who I neglected while I studied.

I hope to usher in an era of new routines were I keep in better touch with friends, brush my teeth on a more regular basis, and cook things like corn bread, biscuits, Baba Ghanouj, and lots of things made from pumpkins or sweet potatoes. Read more books and exercise everyday. (HMM)

But first I am going to celebrate and take a few days off.

island pick nick- berry short cake

, originally uploaded by heavin inc..

Boston makes a beautiful background for a delicious berry shortcake.

this Photo was taken on Spectacle Island, one of the Boston Harbor islands, on Sunday July 12th. Kevin and I met friends at the ferry and had brunch on the Islands. I especially like this picture because I think my grandpa would have enjoyed this desert, He died on July 8th, and if it is possible to pick nick to celebrate a life that is what I was attempting this day. It turned out to be beautiful and sunny day the food was good and the friends were fun. And I think my grandpa would have approved.

I Graduated!!!!

On May 2, 2009 I graduated From the accelerated bachelors in nursing at the Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions. The Ceremony was held in a large (warm) tent on the Harvard Medical school lawn. It was supposed to rain but the day turned out to be beautiful. Cordell and Carol (Kevin's Parents) came from Nebraska to visit for the weekend and help us celebrate.

After the comencement we went out for French Cambodian food at the Elephant Walk a very nice restaurant near our home. I had
Rouleaux Spring rolls filled with ground pork, peanuts, carrots, onion and beanthread. Served with fresh greens and herbs for wrapping and tuk trey on the side for dipping
Chilled Avocado Citrus Soup - Freshly squeezed orange and lime juices, avocado, tomato, and button mushroom; garnished with cilantro…
Poulet Rôti et Gratin Dauphinois - Roasted bone-in chicken breast with a mushroom red wine reduction, potato gratin and sautéed
Le Péché au Chocolat - A rich, creamy, chocolate truffle cake perfectly paired with raspberry sauce leeks and spinach

The Rouleaux is my favorite.

It was a fun weekend.

on Monday I began to complete the 238 hours of clinical I still need in order to be eligible to sit for my licensing exam. I will be working 3 12 hour shifts a week at MGH for the next 7 weeks. I have enjoyed my shifts so far and look forward to learning allot more as the days go by.

MGH IHP (one semester down 3 + to go)

I finished the first semester of My Accelerated BSN at the MGH IHP! I made a little collage to commemorate the crazy summer of meeting new people making new friends and learning a lot of new and interesting (sometimes slightly disgusting stuff)

From the looks of it Nursing school is a lot of fun! I think that that is the truth of it. Its hard work but the people I work with are good to be around and that makes it all a lot better. I am looking forward to the coming semesters. Somebody remind me that I said this in 2 weeks when it all gets going again.
